  • Ensure compliance with L.I. 2182, Minerals Commission requirements and all applicable company HSE standards.
  • Develop, maintain and regularly review the site HSE risk register.
  • Identify and control risks associated with drilling, blasting, excavation, loading, hauling and dumping activities.
  • Monitor ground-control risks involving highwalls, pit edges, benches, waste dumps and loose rocks.
  • Work with mining and geotechnical teams to ensure unsafe areas are isolated and properly assessed.
  • Develop and enforce the mine traffic-management plan for haul trucks, excavators, loaders and light vehicles.
  • Verify that critical controls are implemented and effective before high-risk work begins.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, HSE audits, task-risk assessments and critical-control verifications.
  • Manage permit-to-work requirements for confined spaces, hot work, electrical isolation, working at height and other high-risk activities.
  • Investigate accidents, dangerous occurrences and high-potential near misses and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Ensure serious incidents and dangerous occurrences are reported and documented in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain emergency-response arrangements covering mine rescue, fire, fuel spills, medical emergencies and evacuation.
  • Coordinate emergency drills and assess the mine’s readiness to respond to major incidents.
  • Ensure adequate first-aid, medical, firefighting and emergency equipment is available and serviceable.
  • Manage contractor HSE prequalification, induction, mobilisation, monitoring and performance evaluation.
  • Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, awareness programmes and competency-based training.
  • Monitor leading and lagging HSE indicators and submit weekly and monthly performance reports.
