Description
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Community Relations Superintendent to lead community engagement and stakeholder relations for our mining operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing recommendations from the socio-economic baseline study, supporting land acquisition and resettlement processes, and ensuring that community-related requirements are met before mining operations commence.
Requirements
- Proven experience in community relations, preferably within the mining industry.
- Strong knowledge of land acquisition, resettlement, and stakeholder engagement processes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Good understanding of mining-related community and regulatory requirements.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- A relevant degree or professional qualification in Community Relations, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Commitment to ethical practices and sustainable development.
Responsibilities
- Follow through and implement recommendations from the socio-economic baseline study.
- Prepare the groundwork for public hearings leading to the commencement of mining operations.
- Prepare modalities for land acquisition, including crop and land deprivation payments.
- Facilitate land acquisition for resettlement or relocation where hamlets fall within 500 metres of proposed pits.
- Ensure that Minerals Commission requirements relating to community relations are strictly adhered to.
- Engage with host communities, traditional authorities, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Support the development and implementation of community engagement and resettlement plans.
- Prepare reports and provide regular updates on community relations activities.
